Wrong Number 1959

Wrong Number 1959

What a classic film this is and made in the year I was born..

Made at the Merton Park Studios sadly just a distant memory and now all what remains of the Studio is a London car park.

But we still have gems like this now on DVD thanks to Network

I really did like this one and sells at a nice price on Amazon, Robbery goes wrong when the mail van is hijacked and the driver of the van does his hero bit for the company only to get hit over the head for his troubles.

A telephone number dialled in error by some old bat could prove the downfall of this ruthless gang all this is well produced by British director Vernon Sewell

Fantastic transfer the quality is first class other member of the cast are…Italian star Lisa Gastoni Peter Reynolds and and Paul Whitesun Jones.

Brief Encounter 1945

Falling in love and steam train are my kind of Movies, bored suburban housewife Laura Jesson (Celia Johnson) is saved when doctor Alec Harvey (Trevor Howard)  removes a small bit of grit from the eye of his soon to be lover.

Their casual friendship soon develops on the train platform director David Lean and author Noël Coward’s prim, oh-so-English tale of romance so lost in today cheap affairs found on Facebook.

Lancashire classic tale of love and guilt in a post-war England from a day long gone you get the feeling she looking for some kind excitement maybe away ftom her pipe smoking husband and our dashing Trevor Howard is just what the doctor ordered.

Its all very Film Noir with the steam trains thundering past, in fact this is one of my favorite all time films, I love the oh so prim and proper busty canteen lady London-born actress Joyce Carey as she fend of the randy attention from the station master {Stanley Holloway}

One of the best places to buy this movie is on Amazon

 Steven Spielberg Duel  1971

Hi welcome to Popcorn.tv we will be up and running soon, but for now i can tell you about a Movie i watched last night Duel 1971  Steven Spielberg Duel is a 1971 television road thriller film written by Richard Matheson, which is based on his own short story. The film is the full-length film directing debut of American director, producer, and screenwriter Steven Spielberg

The movie show what future talent the rookie producer has to offer with nice camera work putting you in the driving seat as you get harassed by a crazy trucker out to make mince meat from our   traveling salesman.

You  do feel the stress inflicted on David Mann (Dennis Weaver), a mild mannered electronics salesman as the trucker with his high powered mean looking tanker plays games with the sales man, slowly taunting him turning the screw.

I got the feeling that the Tanker was in someways possessed by a evil spirit you never  see the drivers face, and in one scene with a stranded school bus the sales man ask if he noticed a truck a   pass by with which he reply he did not.

The truck is a 71 Plymouth Valiant hard to miss on the road

I did like Duel with its small cast, you get a good feeling of being in the drivers seat, its you being pushed by the trucker when the film starts you are placed in the driving seat a clever touch by Spielberg.
